Took Sister To Range

Well my sister shot a 22 rifle and shotgun last year visting friends in Mississippi and has been wanting to shoot a pistol ever since.

She came down to SC to visit this weekend and I let her shoot the XD.

For her first time with a pistol she was hitting black on a standard pistol target at 50 feet.

I was pretty impressed.

She loves the AR though.

Very cool...I always enjoy taking people shooting who don't do it much...

Cool! I love it too when new people get out to the range that wouldn't otherwise go.

Nice pics too, btw.

Curious, do those caldwell muffs work good? Do they shut completely off when loud noises happen, or do they just compress the sound and get briefly quiet? Also, do they amplify lower noise good? I have a cheaper pair similiar to those... not the same brand, but they don't amplify anywhere near what my peltor's do.. so I don't ever let anyone use them cuz they suck.

and congrats on gettin the sister out to shoot. The more people we can get into shooting, the better off our sport will be. Some people have a fear of guns that is unfounded.. once they come around and shoot them, it goes away some.

Yeah i especially like how she never held a pistol so I taught her thumbs forward which seemes to work well for her.

I am not impressed with the Caldwells especially since I overpaid at a gun show.

If you can get them for $20-30 then they are fine.

They are not as quick to reset as Peltors and the mics are not as sensitive.

The amplification cuts out but you still hear a muffled shot.

They do the job but they are not ideal.

so does the amplification shut off completely during loud sounds? my peltors just compress the sounds, the amplification doesn't shut off.
