New Nightsights, shooting low
My old sights, I was shooting low and left (4" left and 4" low.) I switched sights over to Meprolight this weekend. These were zeroed better. I'm shooting low left still, but at 7yards, I'm off at 1.5" left and 1.5" low.
Anyone have any ideas? With my full size HK, POA = POI, I'm dead on. Hardwarz |

Yes quite jerking the trigger. Sounds harsh. But in all honesty this is where right handed shooters shoot if they are flinching. Slow down on the trigger pull and pull it as slow as you can focusing on the front sight. Let the shot surprise you when it goes off.

Good enough, I'll try again and report back. I didn't think that I flinched due to me being dead on with my HK. I'll just have to try again and see what happens. Now I just have to find the link to the old target correction legend and shoot at it. Hardwarz |

I put Meprolights (Sig #8s) on my XD-40SC. I was shooting low and to the left too. There were a couple things that fixed the problem.
First, I changed my point of aim. The front site for Meprolights is designed for a point of aim position instead of a 6 o'clock position. Makes sense. In the dark you are probably not going to see the top of the sight. Just the dot. Second. I worked on my grip. I made sure both thumbs were pointing down the bore. I tightened my grip a little. It was also pointed out to me that I was re-establising my grip between shots (ie loosening my overlapping hand after the shot and then tightening back up). Keep the pressure constant. Third. I had to work on my trigger pull. It took me a while to get accustomed to the XD trigger. I experimented with where I positioned by finger on the trigger. When I worked on these 3 things, point of impact moved and my shooting became very, very accurate. |
