Heinie Sights Review

Ok guys, i got my XD finally! Went yesterday and put about 300rds through it. I love it!

I was scared of the Heinie Night Sights, Ive always been use to the 3dot sights or rifle sights. But i went ahead and ordered the XD with them. (only $60 more)

But to my amazement, with these sights it is extremely easy and fast to get on target.

Went in the living room last night to clean it while i was watching tv. In a pitch black room you can draw the XD and be on target before you know it!!! You just put the bright dot on top of the dim dot and bam. In the light, just put one white dot on top of the other. Its very easy, and im happy with my decision!

I love these sights now!
just incase some of you havent heard of these sights... they look like this.......

ill try to get a picture of my target also... i did really well!
2- 10rd mags from 10yds i can cover the group with half the Grip from my XD. Im goin out to 15,20,25 yds today after lunch.
10yds rapid fire i managed to keep a group the size of my fist with one shot high.

all my shots are to the left though... it kindof aggrivates me.. i need to work on my trigger pull i know, but i dont think its zeroed in to well.

try to concentrate on the sights, and not the dots. the dots are just for emergency, pretend they are not there and use your sights the way they are meant to be used. Also, dry-fire. Acuire a target, and as you dry-fire watch your sights. you will probably notice they drift when you fire. Practice trigger control, that is key.

That is exactly how I felt the first time I used Heini's, I have learned that I really like them, and sight aquisition is extremly fast..

Im workin on that... it used to drift to the left when dryfiring... Now it just barely jumps when the firing pin snaps. Im goin to pratice and work on my grip... Then go to the range and see if it will come natural.

I just loaded up 200more rounds.. im ready to go.

Thats what ya have to do, lots of practice until it feels natural. Got snap caps? Throw one in the middle of your mag at the range to really get an idea of how much you can sometimes anticipate a shot.
I got the 8's too, they clean up the sights alot and the dots don't get in your way as much as horizonal ones do, imho. I can say, having the trigger lightened does make a difference. You don't need to squeeze and it goes bang before you have time to make it drift, very cool.

got back from the range......
10rds at 7yds and i got all of them in the X Ring and i can almost cover the group up with the bottom of my Mag. No more than Half a bullet hole was sticking outside the Bottom of the mag... so i think that was really good!!!

Got to get more pratice though... i was praticing the double tap on the center mass and a Head shot on a Reduced B-27 Target... the first shot was pretty good but i would anticapate the second for the double tap and it would be lower and to the left.... ARGH.... but the head shot was dead center...

All my shooting was at 7,10,25yds..
My 25yd shots need some work!!
