Thumb activating mag release
Took the Xd out and ran through the paces this evening. Apparently my thumb is activating the slide release and closing the slide on empty mags. Anyone have a remedy for this? I have a serious habit of letting my thumb ride in the exact spot as I tend to favor 1911's and keep my thumb on the safety when firing.
Saw off my thumb? Remove the slide release somehow? I really like this gun but this is really bothersome.

My thumb sits right on the slide release on my 9sc also. I just make a point to make sure I am keeping my thumb(s) relaxed (as they should be) with no pressure against the gun. It also helps that my slide release is pretty stiff.

Try a little bit of grip tape where your thumb rests, or you could put your weak hand thumb over the other, or get stronger thumbs.

My mistake, I was thinking slide release not mag release, just check this video out, and you will see where to keep your thumbs when shooting Thumb activating mag release

The first couple hundred rounds I had the opposite problem with my xd. i would lock the slide open. it just took some practice to get my thumb placement down.
