Broken Extractor

I went to the range this past weekend and took my son and his friend. We had a great time the kids shot the .22s and the XD 9.

In cleaning my XD 357 SIG Sunday I noticed my extractor tip had broken off. I didn't have any FTE or any problems at the range and haven't had any problems in the past.

Does anyone know if SA is providing Extractors for parts? Has anyone had to send their XD to SA recently for a replacement? Just wondering on the turn around time? I'm going to call SA later today. I've got about 6,000 rnds through it.

Thx

Just got off the phone with SA and have RMA number in hand. I need to ship the firearm back for replacement. They are also going to replace the springs and provide me a new guide rod.

Just as a FYI SA highly recommended to get the shipping re-embursed quicker was to put a copy of it in with the firearm at the time of shipping.

The only time I've even heard of extractor problems w/ the XD's is when people are loading the chamber w/ a round and then releasing the slide (the extractor has to "spring" over the lip, sometimes this can cause it to chip). Other than those situations, I can't think of a single person I've read about with extractor problems.

Do you load a round in the chamber prior to dropping the slide?

Do you think this can happen if done only a couple times? ive done that in the past, but inspected my extractor and everything seems ok.. i hope it didnt weaken it in any way.

I'm not sure I follow you on this reply...

Are you saying you load your chamber first w/ the .40SW and don't have any problems?

No, i don't think it's an issue w/ a couple times here and there. For that matter, guns like th AR regularily "snap" over the rim of the round w/ the extractor. It's designed that way...

The question was posed, have I heard of any extractor problems. The answer is, Only when loading that way. You COULD load your gun like that CONSTANTLY and never have an issue, BUT the only time I've heard of extractor problems where when they were loaded that way...

And, I think it was primarly on steel cased rounds too... But that's a side note.

I really wish they'd start selling parts! I really would like to get the upgraded extractor for my Gen1 HS2000 since she has trouble with some types of ammo.

i have a conversion barrel down to 9mm. and it used to work great now it wont extract, on in three double feeds. while the 40 barrel has started to do it too only very infrequently

FedEx just showed up with the XD 357 Sig. SA replaced the Locking Block and Extractor. The locking block looks different from the orginal lock block I had. Maybe it's just me and its new with no wear.

The repair form states SA replaced with a 9MM locking block and 9MM extractor. I'm not a gunsmith by any means but I would have thought the extractor would have been a 357 Sig or .40 S&W not 9MM. Anyone know more about extractor size or lock block size? I'm hoping to get out and shoot it this weekend.
