XD 40 Compact???

Hello all, Im looking to get my first semi auto and want a 40 cal. I want to carry this concealed, but want it to be fun to shoot as well(somewhat accurate, pie plate at 25yds). I was excited about the "Sub compact", but it just doesnt feel right in my hand with the short mag. I cannot get my pinky on the grip. I held a 45 compact with the short mag, and I can hold that grip. So I will probably buy a 45 compact, but its not my first choice. My question to the group, do you think they will offer the 40 in a compact model?

The SCs come with a standard mag with grip extension. My guess is that would solve your problem.

Hey-

I just got the SC.. but here is the solution to your problem...

The Pearce Grip Magazine Extension- you can get that pinky finger on... it works amazingly!! only $8 at almost any gun store

Thanks for the replys, you guys are the fast draws for sure.
I know the gun comes with 2 mags, one extended. I just dont think I could get used to the short one and feel comfortable in the event I had to draw it. Now that mag extender, that is cool. So, can you guys hit anything with those 3" barrels? I cant afford 2 guns, or Id buy one of each. I read a post where a fellow member couldnt hardly hit the target at 15yds with his sub compact. I also read where some are cutting down the grips on their service models. Sounds a bit overboard to me, like painting a brand new car. Maybe thats an option though?

Heck yea!! look at my range report --> My Brand New XD40-SC Range Report!

That all was at 10 yards (30 feet).

That grip extender works great... it feels very natural!

re:

The 40sc is accurate. It will out shoot some 4 inch pistols ( it is more accurate than my Glock 31 ). It is my main carry piece. First priority is accuracy ( shot placement ), I wouldn't carry it unless I knew I could hit with it very well.

I agree. At work we have Glock 23's. I know that my SC40 can shoot that out anyday. I still think Glock's are good pistols, but I think the XD's are supperior.

I'm quite impressed with the accuracy of my XD40SC. At 7-10 yards, it's been dead-on. I'm lucky enough to be comfortable with the short magazine, so all it needs to be a great carry weapon is night sights and a good trigger job. I actually prefer it to my XD40 Service.
