Hoppe's 9 and XD frame
Is it OK to soak my XD frame in Hoppe's 9? I started using this stuff again, and soak the slide, barrel, and other small parts in a tub. Will the frame be OK if soaked for a few hours?

I'm not sure why you would need too. If it needs that much cleaning I'd probably just totally strip the firearm down and soak all the metal parts.

A few hours is a pretty long time. I find that 15 min is usually adequate, but hoppes shouldn't hurt the gun. I never soak the plastic in it though so YMMV

I haven't soaked the frame, but I've used Hoppes to clean it. Haven't had a problem.

Be careful if you have early TruGlo TFO sights they can be damaged by cleaning solvents. The new ones just released have cured that problem.

Dunno about soaking a polymer like that though, specialy for such a long time. I would have to know they are compatible before trying it. I have seen polymers do funny things when immersed in the wrong fluid. The Hoppe's solvent is quite strong, I don't see any reason for anything soaking in it for that long. I have used a parts cleaner (smells similar) on an M-16 before and that worked really well until the motorpool SSG caught us wrench monkeys, but the rifles were squeaky clean from end to end and everything in between, really quick like. No need to soak them for a long time.

I've never had problems with Hoppe's. I do keep it away from my sights though, and have never soaked my gun in it.

please explain why you think you need to soak the entire frame in Hoppes 9. all the powder residue should be in the barrel, feed ramp, and the chamber of the slide. shouldn't take more than a rag or patch of Hoppes on the frame to get rid of any gunk there.
