carry gun
I have had a P228 for around 10 years now also a XD 9 service, and am looking for a good carry gun. I have my search down to 2 guns(it would be 3 if I could afford a Springfield EMP 9mm)! Ok so i am looking at a Sig P239 9mm or XD 9 Sub-compact. Having trouble deciding between the 2 and only have the cash for one, any help would be great!
Thanks |

What is wrong with the two guns you have now? Both should be concealable with a proper belt and holster. Don't skimp on these two items and you should be just fine. Plus it is cheaper than buying a new gun.
Of the two you have listed, have you considered the weight and capacity in addition to size? They are about the same length, but the XD is just a bit shorter. That could be a plus or minus. Slightly shorter can be easier to conceal, but I can't get all my fingers on an XDSC grip so control during shooting is lower for me. Sig's website doesn't list the 239's weight, but I'm guessing it is steel so it will probably be heavier than the XDSC. It is slightly down on capacity, but it is single stack so it should be slimmer. Sig costs more than XD. Also, the XDSC would still be able to use your regular XD mags. Both are quite good, I'm sure. Have you had a chance to handle both? That might help you decide. Of course, I still vote for the good belt and holster. |

+1 on cooperdog's comments.
XDSC 9 + good belt and holster + extra ammo= cost of sig hmmm... SC will take your service mags, etc. also has ability to take high cap mags with sleeve. not sure if sig can do that... |

knight of light-
i agree... for my XD 9 SC, i have the regular 10 rd mag in gun when carrying. but the 2nd mag i carry is high cap so i can carry 27 rds b/w the 2 mags and pipe. plus, the extended mags can be nice for the range to have the expanded grip and limit reload times. |

Let me first say that I absolutely am lusting after a SIG P239 SAS. The reason I don't have one is :
1. Weight 2. Size 3. Capacity 4. Trigger 5. Price I carry a XD9SC and it is has the Sig beat in all categories when using an XD40SC mag which gives you 13 rounds. The DAK trigger is nice but after about 500 rounds I like the XD more. The Sig is a nice size bit the XD has less weight and is not as bulky. The XD is also a couple hundred bucks cheaper. I have to say all that everyday so I don't go out and buy the 239 SAS at one of my local dealers. That is one good looking gun.

With the right holster you can conceal almost anything.I sometimes even carry my G20 IWB.I always use Kramer holsters http://www.kramerleather.com/
