Who here has TruGlo BriteSite (not TFO) installed?

If you do...

Could you post your thoughts on them and perhaps pics if you have some? Again this is for the TruGlo standard tritium "BriteSite" product, not the TFO with fiber optic.

Thanks!

I have them on my XD-45Compact and I'll try and get a photo uploaded for you. Actually, I prefer them over the TFOs. I find them very bright and it gives a compact slide in particular a cleaner look (IMHO). I also have them on my Glock 26.

Here you go - installed on a Glock 26. No complaints. Exceptionally bright in low light.

While I've only done the TFO's, the only challenge is getting the factory sights off without damaging your pistols finish. I put a drop of gun oil on each sight so it would work it's way in as I started tapping after I had to do the initial "hard hit" which got the sights moving. Once moving they just tapped out. Oh... and make sure to use a brass punch. Steel can damage things much easier.

Installing will be quite similar except you shouldn't have to use much force while tapping them in. Many recommend removing a tiny bit of material from the base of the sight if they are exceptionally tight while trying to get them in. My TFO's went in pretty easy and are solidly in place with the set pin in the rear. (there was a hole for a set pin in the front, but It wasn't in the package..... maybe i should contact TRUGLO).

I think he was just interested in seeing a pic and getting an opinion on the TruGlo Brite Site non-fiber optic Tritium sights from someone that has them.

'Plenty of information in other threads on the trials and tribulations of installing sights on the XD and it's by no means limited to the TruGlos. The original TruGlo TFOs were particularly problematic (on the XDs) but I understand they have since gone through a minor design change to ensure an easier install and prevent marring of the slide. Still, getting the factory sights off for starters can be a challenge. I hear though the XD45 dovetail dimensions have been tweaked by the factory and they are now easier to get off than the factory sights on the XD40, 9mm, .357Sig. I don't know that for a fact but someone posted it to be true.

I have owned both the TFOs and the non-TFO TruGlos, 'can't complain about either. The non-TFOs work fine for me.

Here are the TruGlo Tritium Brite Sites on an XD-45 Compact:

I just got my XD45 back from Springer with the TruGlo night sights installed. I think they're comparable with any other night sight. My other gun has Mepro sights, but there really isn't a difference in brightness. So I can't say anything negative about them. We'll see how they hold up.

You are absolutely correct. I do think however that they are brighter than the Mepros and other non-fiber optic Tritium night sights.

Thanks for the pictures. I ordered a pair for my XD45C yesterday.

One of the biggest problems I have with the XD is how wide the rear sight aperture is. On my Kimber, the aperture is much narrower which makes for easier proper sight picture aquisition in my opinion. When I shoot the XD back to back with the Kimber, I notice that my shots print wide with the XD. As in I'm bouncing the front dot right-to-left within the rear blade aperture from shot to shot.

The Kimber's sights don't allow that. You have to center the front dot in the aperture to even see it, and you know you're going to put your shots right down the middle if you do.

I really hope the TruGlo sights are similar.
