XD22 and related story from Springfield Rep.

Just got home from my local sporting goods store, where they are holding a mini sportsmen's show. Thought I would stop by and say hello to the local Springfield Rep. While I was looking over his display table I overheard him trying to sell an XD40 to another gentleman. I was shocked at his lack of product knowledge. I was standing right there so I interjected a couple of times with some of my own knowledge. I should have gotten some sort of comission from the sale. But I did get a XD hat after askin for one!

So about the XD22, I had mentioned that It would be nice to have a 22cal XD. The rep's reply was "It's in the works." So I guess we can all take from that what we choose.

All in all I shouldn't be too surprised at his lack of product knowledge, he is a salesman after all, and anymore sales is 99% BS and 1% fact. I find that to be true with the salesmen in my company too.

I heard the same thing at my local place too. They had Rob Leatham in there shooting and talking. I got to learn from the man himself how to do a trigger job on an XD. sweet. back to the 22. when i asked about that, the Springfield rep told me, that it was in the works and then he proceeded to say in the next 2 years you will see all manner of XD stuff come out. They are selling so many of them it is not funny. My buddy who is one of the managers there said that they now sell 20-30 XDs for every 1 glock. Where they keep a glock in every model in, they try and keep about 5-10 of the primary models of XDs in. They sell atleast 30+ XDs a month easily.

with that kind of volume for springfield, they are bound to come out with every accessory under the sun for them.

I don't believe SA thought they were going to have such a warm welome from the media, and thus the shooting community. It wouldn't surprise me if they treat them themselves in the next evolution

I hope you are right, but at the same time, if he had very little product knowledge, and was a "salesman", could he have been blowing smoke at ya?
