30+ round mag questions

I just recieved my order from midwayusa.com of 2 of these

http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=938507

My 1st question is...they market them as 30 round capacity, yet I've seen people on here mention 32 round capacity. To make it even weirder, out of my excitment of getting these mags that I have been waiting for I loaded em up...and I loaded 34 rounds with somewhat ease. I stopped and didn't put anymore in. Do you think the reason that they market it as a 30 round mag is to keep the tension in the spring at it's maximum performance?

2nd question is in the modification needed to magazine catch, did you do anything different than drilling a hole (don't know drill bit size yet). Looking at the magazine release lip it is in the shape of a half a circle, where as the hole to be drilled will be obviously round.

to answer your question, for shooting at the range. With the mags I now have...I am able to shoot 100 rounds without reloading any mags. I know there are a few of you out there with these mags.. any help?

well i own one for my ruger p89 and it also holds 34 rounds i think its just for spring tension but i load mine with 34 all the time and it functions fine and i also use it for the range not just to look crazy or cool . you'll learn to love this mag at the range even though it takes a little longer to load also it looks good in the gun ( at least to me )

I was going to drill em and try em out today at the range, but we just got dumped on, and I would have had to snowshoe into the range. My friend backed out so we postponed the trip until next weekend

I ordered a 30 round clip for my S&W model 59 and it fits the SA XD9 too. I just opened the hole that it had on the front of the clip with a drill bit now all i need to do is get a small metal file and file the top of the hole flat like on the XD mags. got the clip from clipdepot for 27 bucks.

First off, please..."magazine". I think the only thing that really uses "clips" (besides those used to charge magazines in military weapons) is the M-1 Garand with its "En Bloc" clips.

Now, I really don't understand these 30-round magazines. I mean, magazines are fairly delicate instruments. That is why the pistol's lower wraps around the magazine--to protect the relatively weak metal from damage that could occur during use.

What's more, if we view going to range as a training exercise, ejecting a spent magazine and loading a fresh one, should be part of the experience. Additionally, by using a 30-round magazine, one would drastically alter the shooting of the pistol because of the extreme rearward bias of having put so many rounds on the back of the pistol.

Finally, doesn't it just look ugly? By putting that magazine on the pistol, I would imagine that you disturb the lines of the gun.

Just my two cents, but really, I can't get my head around the big magazine.

I bet you would change your mind real quick if you ended up in a fire fight against someone with body armor on.
