My friend just got a 5" 45ACP XD compact, I love itbut want to stick with 9mm. Is there a compact version of the 9mm tactical on the horizon? I really don't want to buy a tactical and cut it, but I almost don't like looking at my subcompact now.

i HEARD THEY MIGHT EXTEND THE 'COMPACT' CONCEPT TO THE SMALLER FRAME XD (9MM, .40, 45GAP), OR FOR $150 GET YOUR REGULAR ONE CUT DOWN TO SIZE.

oH i WOULDN'T PAY FOR IT EITHER, BUT SA WILL BE HAPPY TO TAKE YOUR $$ FOR AN HOUR WORTH OF DREMEL TOOL WORK.

I'd love to buy a factory 4" Compact XD-9. I hope springfield extends the compact concept to the rest of the line.

I was considering buying a tactical 9mm and cutting it down, but if it's a factory job the gun would still be covered under the warranty.

I think something is in the works, if you go here http://www.whittakerguns.com/new_handgun.htm and scroll down to SA they list 9 & 40 compacts with part numbers (XD9781HCSP06, & XD9782HCSP06) that dont match anything SA lists on their website yet. Buds Gun Shop has the same part numbers listed as well but not in stock
