My XD is absolutely part of my SHTF gear, but that's only because I always have it with me; it's 100% reliable; and I have enough ammo stocked up to fend off a small invasion.

i think what he was saying is that it is legal to conceal a long gun if you have a permit in his state. same here in arizona, you can conceal a sammari sword if you want.

Sure it is, along with my bushy and saiga-12. + or minus a few inches at 300 yards isn't much of a concern in a suitation like that for me. Being completely untrained I'm just as well off with hot load 00 buckshot for long range. (Tried and tested over 100 yards.)

Though if the SHTF i'll be stocking the bushmaster.

I think its about time to acquire a marlin 1895 gs in 45-70. Other than that thought, my xd, and high ground, my shtf gear would be primarily enough caution to avoid itchy trigger fingers!

My XDs will definitely be part of my SHTF gear. I have 5 mags for both the .45auto and the 9mm. I also have 4 .357magnums, 2 revolvers and 2 lever guns. The levers are great out to 150 yards. Not to mention a few other pieces.

I will be acquiring a Marlin camp 9 carbine which takes a S&W model 59 magazine. Several 20 rounders will be included.

I also stock 40 gallons of water and enough food for a month. I have my bug out kit in 5 gallon paint buckets that are easy to transport by vehicle.

My concern is that I live about 90 miles from DC, when it gets hit I figure a bunch of survivors will be heading my way to get out of the kill zone.

Unfortunately SHTF will happen sooner rather then later...

All I have are XDs and a 12 gauge... so yes. It's what I know best.

My XD .45 is now, but thats because I dont have a full size 9mm pistol right now. If I need to move, ammo weight is going to be a big factor, and at 2.5 lbs. for a box of 50, .45 ACP aint the answer...

So AR15, (Beretta 92 or Sig P226), ammo.
