Magazine Loading Problems

OK , now I just bought an XD 9mm Sub Compact, and I started to load the Mags up with the supplied mag loader, now the compact 10 round mag loaded just fine but when I went to load the 16 round Mag the loader gets stuck when I push it down.

Also when I get about 7-10 rounds in in it gets really hard to put any more in, I have to take out 1 or 2 and put them back in. Another thing is the hole that is cut in the mag shown here.....

This is cutting into the head of the bullet as if the mag is to small or something

I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if you think Springfield would exchange this Magazine out for a new one? I know there only $ 20-$30 , But hey that's $20- $30 Right!!!

I've got the XD40-SC, and I'm pretty sure my mags have no holes in the front like that. Looks like your has some metal sticking into the magazine that's catching on the front of the bullets, jamming the whole works up.

Then your mags must be falling out constantly. That hole is where the magazines attach to the gun when you insert them. Now there may be a problem with it, but it definitely should be there.

One of my 10 round mags on my XD9SC does something similar as far as sticking a bit when the loader is fully depressed. I usually give it a slightly harder push to unstick it. It does not do this with my other 10 rounder or either of my 16 rounders. I havent taken the offending mag apart yet, so I havent determined what the issue is at this point. I've not seen the other problem you spoke about.

I always have to push the mag loader up with my thumb before fully seating the round. The loader compresses the spring underneath the follower enough for me to get the round inserted under the feed lips, then I ease the loader upwards and push the round the rest of the way back into the magazine. It's like that for all 12 of my XD magazines. (I have them in 3 calibers.)

That hole in the front of the magazine is for the magazine catch. If your ammunition is rubbing against it then either 1) you don't have the round fully seated in the magazine, 2) your ammunition is out of spec (unlikely with factory loads), or 3) the magazine is defective.

Hope you get this sorted out.

here is a suggestion...

take apart the mag and put a thing coat of oil on the inside wall of the mag and also the follower. see if that helps

I have 8 high-cap magazines (9mm Tactical) and all have the hole in the front. None of them, however, have the metal tap protuding into the magazine. It sounds like when the hole was stamped in yours that it wasn't a clean punch through and a "tab" was left. I'd send it back th SA.

As for the loader, mine is the same problem...it stuck all the time. Poor quality control from SA. I threw it away.
