The trigger/sear engagment is not very precise, but has a lot of engagement surface to make up for it. Any play in the striker or slide to frame may affect the engagement angle. I had reset my trigger several times last night and I though the angle changes a little through out the process. This is probably why it is unsafe to reduce any of the sear or spriker engagement points. Your's is definetly worse than mine though.

Thanks for the responses guys, looks like mine is not the only one. I'll keep an eye on it. To answer a few questions that were asked..... I have not had any trigger work done......yet . Someone also asked if I talked to Springfield about this but no, I have not. Until I notice a mechanical issue or wierd/inconsistant feel in the trigger let-off I didn't feel the need to bring it up to them. The main reason I brought this up at all is I absolutely LOVE this gun and it's pretty much all I carry anymore so I just want to make sure that things like this are nothing to be concerned about. Thanks for everyones input.

Humm mine is perfectly straight across. Also, after the trigger is disengaged you can see a slight wear line which is also straight across. The wear line is what I would be concerned about. If your wear line is at an angle such that it is only "engaging/catching" on the left portion that would concern me...
