Full mag with nothing in chamber?

When I carry, I prefer to not have one in the chamber. Will it hurt the gun (XD 45acp) to have a full mag in the gun with no bullet in the chamber?

Yes, it will increase the chances of it being stolen by a BG.

Seriously, it will not harm it one bit, although I don't like the feel of the 13th round against the slide, so I prefer 12+1. But many Carry 13+1 w/out any issues.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

HDR, Homeland Defense Rifle

IN a XD45, when you load a full mag, and don't rack the slide (13+0), it sure looks and feels like the srping is botomed out, and the top round hitting the slide. But many here carry 13+1, and report no issues. Not to mention SA would be crazy to advertize 13+1 if it was an issue with the weapon.

As others said, no. And as others have said, why would you carry if you don't have 1 in the pipe? Do you think you're actually going to have time to chamber a round? If you're not confident yet and are working your way up to it, I would understand. If you feel you'll never be confident carrying a chambered round with this gun, then I'd suggest finding another carry gun that increases your confidence.

one way I look at carrying without one in the pipe is if I do have to use the gun to protect myself, If i have time to rack the slide before I fire, will the judge, jury, prosecution see the use of deadly force really necessary... just one more thing the prosecution could use against you.... could I have not used the fraction of a second to take cover, run, or avoid the situation.... I dont agree with that way of thinking, but you know some people do....

It won't hurt the gun, but it could kill you!

'scuse me, Mr. Criminal, stop shooting me while I rack my slide and shoot you back!

Who cares if it harms the gun - it's a stupid way to carry.
