Help me choose between Glock and Springfield Armory
Hello everyone! I'm new here and am doing my research on purchasing my next pistol. My wife agreed to buy me one for valentine's day which is coming up next month and i want to be a well informed consumer. I'm looking for a 9mm concealed carry and have narrowed my choices down to either the Glock G26 or the Springfield Armory XD sub-compact. Forgive me if this topic has already been covered here as i have done some searching back about 10 pages and have not found the info i'm seeking. I already own a Sig P220 for home defense in .45ACP., and is too large (IMO) for concealed carry. I've gone to the local gun stores and held both guns numerous times and LOVE them both. I really can't decide which one i like. Which gun will have the lightest trigger pull?, as that is a concern for me. I like to have a light trigger pull. Magazine capacity is not really a concern for me. Night sites would be nice and a grip extension will probably be the only accesories i'll be adding. Maybe the extended slide release for the glock though. Can you guys give me your opinoins? why should i buy SA over glock? thanks!

I've been a Glock fan for 10+ years and have owned several. I had held an XD before and it felt close enough to what I already had, so at that point I had no reason to seriously consider an XD. But then two months ago I actually shot an XD for the first time. It was love at first trigger pull. My G33 is now for sale and will be replaced by an XD.
I would highly recommend that you shot any of the weapons that you're considering before you purchase one. Find a friend or rent the different models BEFORE you decide. You may like Glocks over an XD. You may find out that you don't like either one and need to step back and reevaluate what you want. Good luck with your decision.

If your here you must want the 'SEXY XD
Really the best advice find one of each to rent or borrow. See which shoot better for you. Personally the feel of the XD grip is more to my liking and Gl@cks are fugly If you in Mi send me a pm you can shoot my sub 40 The prices are close now accessory's available for both great warranty all around.Finish is up to par also with Melonite vs Teffiner

Re:
Glock 26 is smaller, but not by much. Both have decent accuracy. The XD has a better trigger. You can find nights sights for both, just look on the web. I know you said capacity is not an issue but the XD has more. You really can't go wrong with either. I would tip the scales in the XDs favor cause of capacity, safety features and trigger. Good Luck.

Right up my alley! I'm a Springfield convert....mainly because of the subcampact class....to me, the Springfield xd/sc shoots like a Full Size gun...I easily compare it to one of my HK full-sized guns as a matter of fact. I sold off my Glock 26 because the 9mm xd/sc is so much better...don't get me wrong...I have quite a few Glocks and love them all, but the 26 was an aweful match for me:
muzzle flip is aweful on a 26, whereas the springfield keeps it's balance and spreads the recoil across your arms/arm (depending on stance..I shoot a modified weaver)... I hate stock Glock triggers, that's why all of mine are mods; however, as a concealment gun, I didn't want to do a trigger job or 3.5 trigger on the 26...to me, that's a bad idea for a concealment weapon for a number of reasons. The Single Action trigger on a Springfield is a joy to shoot..always consistent. Grip: Grip a 26, then grip an xd/sc...no explanation needed...then grip a 26 with grip extensions and an xd/sc with (included) mag extension...again, no explanation needed. To me the 26 is a flat-out bastard to shoot without grip extensions...and once you add an extension to a 26, you're getting into a comparable size with the Glock 19. I would buy a 19 over a 26 anyday, but if you want a great subcompact, go with the xd9/sc...you won't be sorry. Hope this helps! |

this shouldn't be about convincing, it should be about what fits you the best. i'm personaly not a fan of the glock, it just doens't feel right in my hand, but my buddy loves all of his and hates my xd's.

Like everyone has pretty much said already.
It's really personal preference. The XD's and Glocks are now pretty close in price and the with the new Melonite finish on the XD's that pretty much takes away my big complaint about them. I've got 1 XD and 3 Glocks. I'd sell the XD before the Glocks. Not that I think the Glocks are that much superior, but I have more invested in them, I shoot them more, and I shoot them better.

I owned a Glock for a few years & used it quite a bit. As time went on I noticed that it no longer felt comfortable in my hand like I thought it had. Where the Trigger Guard & finger grooves meet kept putting a cramp in my hand, and after my injury to my left hand it began to become difficult for me to operate the slide & mag release with my left hand on the Glock. I went to the XD after I fired a friends of mine, I don't regret it. The Glock isn't a bad weapon design, but it's not for everyone.
Also forgot to mention that my wife likes the XD better than my Glock, it fits her better. So if your wife wants to shoot a little bit you might want to consider that.
