5" barrel in a 4" model, will it work
I can't find any extended barrels and wanted to know if a 5" barrel will work in my 4" .45ACP XD?

Well the 5" barrel fits and functions in the 4" slide. I haven't fired it that way yet but I can think of no reason it wouldn't be fine.
Just don't try it the other way. .

Without going and getting out my XD's, isnt the end of the barrel part of the lockup inside the frame? If you put in a 5" barrel not designed for for a 4" slide, I would think the gun would shoot high at the least, possibly not properly lock up. I may be wrong but double check.

Yep, thats part of how the tilting breech works. the muzzle end of the barrel does touch the slide....thats why you get that nice little 'ring' at the muzzle end.

Yeah I found a EFK extended barrel, not too pricey, and should work well. Thanks
