XD 40 Slide ramp?

when i shoot Hp's(doesnt matter what kind) sometimes they will jam on insertion into the barrel, as far as i can tell what is happening, i have repeated the jam while cycling slowly, is the bullet is getting lodged between the slide ramp and the firing pin mechanism, it will actually hold open the slide.
after examining mine compared to a newer model of XD40 it looks like my slide ramp is actually at a steeper angle. could this be a problem or something else.
i can take a picture if you would like.

Pics would help. Sounds like your describing a Failure To Feed (FTF). Did you notice if it happed with just one mag or were both mags causing the FTF.

i had the same prob with my xd40service that i bought in '02. sent it to SA, they took out a smidgen of the feed ramp and then polished it. i always have kept it glass-smooth, but their work seemed to make a difference. you may want to contact them and advise.

Show us some picks of the feed ramp, breech and the steeper slide. This will help narrow down you problem.

Looks like its hanging on the feedramp, you can either polish it yourself f you think you know what your doing or just send it to SA and let them know exatly whats happening. During manufacturing, they sometimes dont get it smooth enough and the edge of the hollowpoint tends to snag on the tiny machining marks.

If you went that far, you might as well finish it. Take an empty shell casing and wrap the sandaper around it. Use back and forth strokes moving toward and away frm the chamber but dont go into it or bevel the chamber mouth. Make sure you use a bit of oil on the paper, it will help it to cut. Move to 600 and then 800 grits, for a nice shiny finish, go all the way to 1200.

I'm having the exact same problem with my 4 inch XD only with hollow points and full metal jacket. I called Springfield and they suggested I send it to them. I'll let you know what happens.
