Trading Up?
I haven't made the decision yet, but I am thinking about trading my .40 Service and Sub Compact for a .45 Service and Compact. How much resale should I expect out of this deal? They are both in great shape other than the top of the ejection port where it wares a little from firing.
Has anyone else already gone this route? |

I always go to gunbroker.com or gunsamerica.com to check average prices.

gunbroker always seems to have extremely high prices at least on new firearms. I would definitely sell privately because the few times i went with a friend who was trading a CZ 40B that he paid close to 500 for and had less then a thousand rounds through it he got some real low offers. He was trying to trade it in to get a Ruger Super Redhawk and the highest offer he got on the CZ was 225. Needless to say he kept the CZ.

My guess would be $300-325 each depending on the shape they're in...leaves enough room for them to resale the guns for $400 or so. I've resold several guns lately to my dealer and this is about the going rate, give or take a few given your specific area...I would keep the .40s and buy a .45 (or 2)when you want to buy one straight up....the only reason i sell guns back is if I have a certain gun that i really don't ever use.
