should i be worried?

i don't know what to call it...maybe the firing pin sear? anyways, part of the lip is curing up/bending back...the metal is shiny and new-looking...here's some crappy pics:

anyone else have this problem? if you can't see it, it's on the drop-safety side...

Jeez, Clark - doesn't look any different than mine.

What are you looking at? I can't see anything that would worry me.

sorry for my poor photog skills...see above the green line, the metal is nice and straight and the finish looks "normal"? above the red, the metal is pushed back and shiny like it was hit with a hammer. i never noticed it before, and can't figure out what would be causing it...maybe it's been like that forever, and i just never noticed...

Looks like it's where the striker saftey leaver touches the striker. Since my XD has a trigger job I can't compare your's to mine and I can't remember what it looked like before the trigger job. Is it a stock gun, no changes?

stock gun. no changes. it only concerns me because the part of metal benging back is making a small lip on the spring side. also, the shiny metal, to me, indicates new wear and tear...

Mine has 500 rounds through it and mine does not look like that, it is straight just like your green line, but all the way over (where your red line is)

Not sure if it is normal or not, like I said, I have 500 rds through mine.

OK, now I see what you're talking about.....

Just pulled mine out of the safe and disassembeled it. Mine is not dinged up like yours. Checked it under the 2X glasses - nothing but a very small "spot" in the same area you have the red line in your photo.

I've got better than 6000 rounds through this 2 year old XD .40 service, so I'm beginning to believe this may be normal wear?

per springfield, this is "normal wear, given the round count." does that mean they will fix it under warrenty when something fails because of it?
