We need a XD357Sig Discussion Room!
Like my XD40 Service, love my XD45 Service, but just picked up an XD357Sig Service at the gun show to keep my Sig P239 .357Sig company, and I have to say, the .357Sig is right up there with the .45ACP as my favorite caliber. I can see why more LE agencies are switching to it, e.g., the Secret Service. It is an extremely accurate, flat shooting, baricade busting, not-so-bad-in the recoil department caliber - in fact the recoil is not bad at all. It is NOT the kicker I was led to believe. Very manageable. I decided not to convert my old XD40 to .357Sig because it's just too darn confusing. Slide says one thing, mags something else (yes, it is recommended by SA that you use .357 mags when converting the XD40 as well as a .357Sig aftermarket barrel) - for this old fart, all that switching around is recipe for disaster. It was best to buy a whole new gun.
Like a lot of folks I was late in trying the .357Sig out but now I'm sold. There is something about this round that grows on you. Another falacy is the high cost of ammo - outfits like Georgia Arms sell excellent re-manufactured practice ammo - 500 rounds for under a hundred bucks and their shipping $ is very reasonable. They are on the web. I love the .357Sig!

I almost bought one, as the shop where I got my .45 service had a .357sig brand new in stock when they had to order the .45. I had read a lot of great things about the venerable .45acp round and almost heard nothing about the 357sig so thats how I made my choice, plus the cost of ammo at retail is higher, though I guess you can find anything cheaper online

It's nice to see someone else enthusiastic about my favorite caliber. Having 500 ft.lb.s + of barrier busting bloom and swirl in your hands is a heady experience. And all in a pistol of standard size.
Sure, you can get bigger and badder, but look at the trade offs. The 357sig system is factory stock, and dependably repeatable. Same numbers every time, all the time. One of my favorite stories about the 357sig is anecdotal from beat cops that say, "When I fire a .40s&w people come out to see what the noise was, when I fire the 357sig everybody just heads for cover."

I started out looking for a Glock 32C at the show. Nobody had one but there were plenty of Glock32s. I like Glocks (I own them and have full confidence in them) but it was a no brainer when I compared the feel of the XD against the Glock 32. The XD fits my hand so much better. I am very happy I decided to go with the XD357 vs. the Glock 32 both fine weapons but for me, the XD is just finer. I gotta tell ya too, the XD45s were flying out the door. I have never seen a more popular gun but I already own one!

It did need a bit of a break-in. During the first 50 rounds, there were a few times where the slide would not go into full battery. I had to give the slide a little forward push but I chalk that up to new parts getting to know each other. By the 100th round, things were running smoothly.

I am not sure we need a room for just 9 people.
