A bit of XD bashing

There has been a Glock vs. XD poll running over on gunsnet for a few weeks, and I'm seeing all the same old worn-out XD bashing that you normally see over at "that other site".

Even so, the poll is dead even at 69-69. So if any of you are members there and haven't voted in the poll, head on over and express yourselves.

You gotta give a lot of credit to the XD as being the new kid on the block and yet has garnished so much attention of the gun world. Now there are millions of Glocks out there, you would think the poll would be more lopsided in favor of the Glock, but it's not.

It's 70 (Glock) v. 69 (XD).

It seems like a lot of people cannot face the fact that while Gaston Glock invented a truly amazing pistol that was unlike any other at the time innovators are bound to come along and make improvements.

I've shot Glocks. They're alright. That Glock 26 really was a tack driver at 7 yards, but to say that Glocks are perfect is a little short sighted.

I'm sure others were saying the same thing when non Colt 1911s hit the commercial market too. To this day there's still an arogance about Colt brand 1911s and AR15/M16s, I suspect that it will be the same 20 years from now with Glocks and other pistols that resemble Glocks.

Just out of curiosity for those that own both: Which is easier to field strip?

I think you have to retract the Glock's slide and move that switch up to field strip, right?

You can't argue with ignorance. That's why I don't go to Glocktalk.com anymore.

They are both equally easy to field strip.

Honestly I could care less. I like my xd and dont care if someone else doesnt like it... It is mine, i shoot it well and it goes bang everytime. A lot of the people that posted in their about Glocks are mislead and no matter what you post they will never change their mindset. Gaston did not make the first polymer pistol like many noted and i hate getting into internet arguments with mis-informed individuals. You tell them they are wrong and they want nothing to due with your responses to them. Other threads like that, that i got involved with just went south. It does seem to me a majority of Glock owners bought one just because a friend said to. Then they think their Glock is the best because they would never buy an inferior product and nothing is better then a Glock BS. In no means am I saying Glock is inferior but from what i have seen in these threads is a lot of new Glock owners simply think Glock or nothing else.
Wow that turned into a little rant.

I think we all know how to take down a XD, so no videos needed.

I registerd, but you have to 'upgrade' to vote.

Silly how people get bent out of shape when they don't even own stock in the company. The old Ford vs. Chevy argument.

I carry my XD45 ACP Tactical, in a SuperTuck from CB. Very comfortable, easy to hide, easy to draw, and easy to reholster.

Looking for an HDR*, either an AR-180B, or Kel-Tec FBR.

After field stripping Glocks, then field stripping the XD, I think the XD is easier. Make sure it's unloaded, lock slide back, flip lever, slide forward, decock, remove slide. Reminds me of the Sig system (which was what I wanted to buy in the first place), which is a lot easier than most of the handguns I've dealt with (1911, HK USP, Glock, Sig, XD, CZ, Berettas, Buckmarks, etc.).

The little switch or whatever on the Glocks can give me some problems every now and then.
