Takedown lever issue

I was shooting my XD-45 the other day when I noticed that my takedown lever had backed about 1/4" out of the channel it was in. I promptly unloaded my gun and pushed the takedown lever back into place. It shot fine after that. I remember seeing a thread or two about this in the past, is it something to be worried about? should I call springfield or is it fine?

Never had this problem with the XD - had it with a Ruger P97DC. When it happened, the pistol "froze" - slide would not cycle, pistol would not fire. Ruger replaced the take down lever and it fixed the problem.

The XD is a totally different design from the Ruger - my understanding is that the take down lever on the XD isn't supposed to move in/out. If I were you, I would contact SA and see what they have to say about it. It doesn't sound like something you should be experiencing.

Call Springfield and see what they have to say. I have never had it happen to me, so I can say that it isn't normal.

The lever just kinda wiggles out so most lickly thats all that happened. No tools or anything are required to remove it. I would pull it out and just check for any wear or damage.

the lever is held in place by the spring that hold down the slide stop. there is a little notch that catches the spring and holds it in you have to rotate the take down lever to the 2 oclock position and then push it out.

Its up to you, but...

If Springfield didn't tell you to send it in, and it's not a dangerous problem...why spend the money to ship it in and be without your firearm for a week? I'd say wait a few weeks and keep an eye on it. If you continue to have issues with it, or it becomes worse, then go ahead and send it in.
