new gun and new member

Joined XDtalk after purchasing my new XD9 service . I love the gun and can not wait to put more rounds through it. Will be getting a trigger job and some other fun bits as money allows and possibly looking at one of the new finishes from Canyon Creek. I almost put of the purchase to get the bi-tone from SA but just could not wait to get the gun. Also possibly purchasing one or two more if I can keep it from the lady (better to ask forgiveness than permission). But I am glad I went with this gun instead of the Glock. The grip angle was the major selling point, just much more comfortable and pointable.

Thumbs up Congrats!

Congrats! you'll love it even more after about 300-500 rounds when it's well broken in. That is when these little XD-9's become loads of fun. Accuracy is excellent and function is flawless.

You made the right choice

There are several after-market products out there check out the sponsor section for more details. www.pistolgear.com is nice place to start. Don's Guide Rod is a fun little addition and economical, you get to play with spring weight and tailor the gun to your style of shooting.

Ever since I got my XD-9 I just can't wait to get to the range every time.

BTW stock up on ammo, 9mm is relatively cheap and the XD has a healthy appetite. Trust me! you'll end up using a lot of it.

Enjoy your new toy (it probably won’t be your last XD) and welcome to the XDTalk community.

Post Just one more thing...

You could apply a thin coat of grease to the barrel. It might, just might, prevent or reduce the wear marks on the barrel.

See my post here:
XD-9 Barrel Smile - Need Some Advice (little worried).

It's not a big deal but some preventive maintenance might or might not fix it, be nice to find out.
Just my 2 cents

Welcome, icemann! Maybe we can go shooting together sometime. Wait a minute...we already have. Then let's do it again soon.

My barrel looks almost exactly like yours and today was my first day out so I am assuming it is normal wear and tear.

I can feel the mark on the top more definitively then on the bottom.

I am hoping this is normal.

From everything I hear and read it's totaly normal and to be expected. What I do now is just apply a thin coat of grease to the barrel and forget about it.

Hope that makes you feel better
