I don't know how to remove an extractor from any handgun. Same goes for sights.

Unhappy More damage

I have seen more damage done to handguns over the past 50 years from people always taking them apart too many times trying to get them spotless clean.

I agree! I had a rough experience with my XD earlier this year 'experimenting' on a detailed strip. I don't think I'll do it again. All during the operation, I could hear my Dad (rip) saying, "You're not going to be satisfied until that thing is broken are you?" Of course, I would always reply: "Nope."

Point well taken happygunner!

I fully dissassemble mine about once every 6 months to do a detail clean. Getting teh extracter out is easy for me with the use of a pick set from Stanley Tools. Why di I mess with it? There is always a little gunk built up down there. I don't want to see it cause rust OR extraction issues.

In the photo, you'll see that the top part is a sear spring from a M1911. The bottom part is a sear spring attached to a handle, notice the little hook at the end of the sear spring? It fits perfectly under the extractor. All you need to do is rock the extractor out, using the lower half of the sear spring.
I apologize for the photo quality...

Nice idea.

Anyone got a pic of the tool? None of the pics in the post work anymore. I cannot get my extractor out after breaking 4 picks. Any suggestions?

(Please don't tell me there is no need to take my extractor out, it needs cleaned out behind it.)

Striker has to come out first as it rides in an indent in the extractor. Is your striker out ( I fought mine for too long before I figured this out)?
