Improved grip on XD's

Well, I got a 4" 45ACP XD for Christmas and I must may I'm very impressed with the quality and feel of this gun! I shot 50 rounds through it that day and I could feel my hand slip just alittle every shot unless I was holding an uncomfortably hard grip which resulted in decreased accuracy.

So I decided to do something about it, lol, I had some old "grip tape" for steps that I got a Lowes or Home Depot a few months ago, so I traced the outline of the raised portion of the grip to a piece of paper. Next I glued to paper to the back of some of the grip tape with spay adheisive and then cut carfully around the lines with a razor blade to get a good clean cut...

This was the result:

So for about $7.00 I got a much improved grip on my .45ACP!

Let me know what you think!
Jake

Planned on doing it to my XD when I get it this weekend. That is if it is a little slippery with me. Looks good on your gun, nice job.

My only worry is that if I need to pull it off it will leave sticky stuff on the frame and no one wants that.

Just get some adhesive remover from the very same Lowe's or Home Depot.

Sticky residue isn't that hard to clean off anyway...

I'm wanting to put a thin piece on my frame behind the take down lever to help me locate my front thumb grip location quicker/ easier.

Nothing at all. But cost, convienience, and immediate results are tempting for many of us. I'm sure that we all appreciate the sponsers and what they do - no one here is trying to disrespect them by coming up with an innovative solution to a common problem.
