XD Impressions

Ok, let me preface this with I am a long time HK and Sig fan. I purchased a couple of Glocks G17 and G19 in the last year after some failures with the G36 and G23. I just didn't like them as much, but have really taken a liking to the G19 and G17.
I also puchased a XD 45 2 weeks ago. I've shot it 3 times so far and put about 700 rounds through it in the past 2 weeks. While I've always liked the grips while fondling them at gun shows etc, I'm finding that over time the grip/ergos are seemingly getting better!
I was talking with a friend last night about his XD's. He's an ex cop/marine and has been using them, taken to them well and now has 3. A XD9, a XD40SC and XD 45. I bought my 45, based on his impressions he'd given me a while back. Because the 45 has worked so well for me thus far, I was inquiring about the SC. He asked me if I wanted to borrow it to try it out and I said no thank you Yeah...right! Hell yea Bro!

So I took his .40 out today. It was dirty and I told him, I'd clean it up after shooting. I'm also going to throw in a box of Hornady TAP as appreciation.

After having a USPc .40, a P2000 in .40 and a G23, I am amazed at how easy it was to shoot! I'm not BS'ing here just because I'm on XD Talk either. With the small grip, no extended mag it was easier to shot, less felt recoil and quicker follow up shots, than all three of those listed.
I was also very impressed with the accuracy @ 25'. From my recollection, it's as accurate as the P2000 which was the most accurate .40 I've had, except for a P226 Stainless.

I can't say enough about the XD SC. I'll be getting one fir sure.

Take it on the standard police shooting course - 3, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25 yrds. You'll drop your socks before you miss center mass. I've shot the course at least a dozen times and qualified 2 years running with my .40 service (4") XD. Easiest pistol to shoot, soft recoil - a real sweetheart doing 3 days and over 1000 rounds each qualification shoot. Wouldn't carry anything else on duty.

Get a carry trigger job and you just won't want to shoot anything else ever again.

I shot my XD 45 today and I could see the disappiontment in the face of a fellow shooter to my right as I shot faster and more accurate than his HK Tactical.

I hope he didn't get to dejected. He should know it's not just the gun.
Where/who does the carry trigger job?

Send a message via MSN to Bycyclist
Scott (www.springerprecision.com) does the carry trigger jobs. He's a sponsor of this forum and has done excellent carry jobs on three of my XDs in the past. Search past threads, much discussion here about Scott and Rich (www.canyoncreek.com) another excellent XD gunsmith.

Also, the SA custom shop does good work. I tried out one of their carry trigger jobs on an XD45 tac last weekend. Veeeeeery nice. Nice enough to turn the heads of some died-in-the-wool 1911 guys who tried it. Now I'm not a hardcore Springfield guy but I give credit where credit is due. I also know that CC and Springer do top-notch work. So any of those options would be great. Of course SA has a longer turnaround so that might factor into your decision.

i love my xd's and i can't say enough about them, they fit me perfect, and shoot great. i have many rds through mine, and i continue to do torture test of various kinds to mine everytime i have time. it works with sand poured in it, mud, and next i am gonna freeze it. i have never had a hitch to date, with any type of ammo, i have tried them all and they all function in my xd flawlessly. the trigger was fine out of the box but through time it has gotten sweeter. they are great, and i will forever be a sa fan and xd fan. i have two models now and forseemyself having one of each one they make before i am through.
