XD .45 ACP sub compact with pics

Ok, so in another thread someone mentioned the XD .45 ACP compact, and I had to get one. So, the next day, I went and got one. I swear, McBrides in Austin has any gun that I fancy, even if they are not available anywhere else for six months. I walked in, asked if they had it, was told by one guy they don't make them yet, and spotted it, ironically sitting next to yet another Taurus PT 1911. I snapped it up and now am taking pictures. I will shoot it this weekend and give a range report.

Here it is with it's big brother for comparison.

On top of the full sized.

Back to back with the .45 and with a .357 sig thrown in for good measure.

Here it is with the mag adapter.

It holds 10 rounds and takes the 13 round full mag. The extender is not needed by me, as my hand fits the grip perfectly, if just a smidge small. So far, I like it a whole lot. It solves the big complaint I had about .45, the huge assed grip that stuck way out. I don't need the 13 rounds that bad....

Here is a link to my original report on the XD .45... More to follow.

EDIT: Sorry, screwed up the title, not a sub, just a compact.

I have yet to see one in person. Does it fit the entire hand? I mean no pinky hanging?

While I loved McBride's during the 30 years I spent in Austin, they were waaay overpriced on most things.

More on topic, that looks more like a 4" Compact.

(edit) ... as has been addressed by the OP's edit...

Technically, the normal XD45 service is the "compact", just as the XD9, XD357, and XD40 service models are compacts, too. The tactical model is the full size, and the 3" version is the sub-compact. But for whatever reason, Springfield calls this one "compact" even though it has a shorter grip than the other compacts (service models)... I guess because the barrel is still 4" and not 3".

It really doesn't fit in any of the 3 categories perfectly. It has a shorter grip than a compact, but not as short as a sub-comact, and it's barrel is the same length as a compact, so it can't be a sub-compact... but it can't be a compact.... ahhhhhh!!!! WTF is it!?!?

Maybe it should be a meso-compact?

That's a nice looking gun. Now I want one!

How much did you pay? How do you like the sights?
