Lasermax Issues!!!

I installed the Lasermax system and the takedown lever "stop" rubbed against my slide and absolutely dug into it and took away a majority of the protective coating on my slide . Has this happened with anyone else? I had to remove it which also dug into it even more and file it down so it wouldn't do it anymore. Now my slide has a nice groove with almost zero coating on it in the exact arc that the lever "stop" traveled within the notch on the slide. Also, another issue I have that is truley annoying me is that to field strip it the weapon with the new guide rod and recoil spring it is always getting hung up upon pulling the trigger to enable the slide to move forward and off the frame. It takes a great amount of force to push it forward. Also, the red cap that covers the battery in the unit is rubbing the barrel and, slowly but surely disintegrating into nothing. I am not very satisfied with this unit AT ALL. The unit is installed properly and it does function but these issues have pissed me off considering the price and that gouge in my slide is now a serious issue that needs to be taken care of with either sending it out to get recoated or doing it myself. Opinions?

I don't have one, but have wanted one for awhile. This is making me think twice.

I hope this turns out to be just a fluke.

staying tuned...

It is not in my opinion, worth the MSRP of $400. I paid $300 for mine brand new in the package from a friend and it is not worth that to me as well given the problems it is causing me. I am upset the most about the scratching it has done on the slide. Very disappointed in this product to say the least.

Sorry to hear your troubles. However, mine (one an XD SC) has had none of those issues, after a few thousand rounds. Have you contacted the maker? Surely this is an unusual situation.

I would most definitely contact Lasermax about this. If it is a NIB unit that caused these problems I would guess they would like to help you out.

If the takedown is defective or improperly designed they will replace it for you.

Good luck.

Good question and thanks for asking. I must say that I have been overwhelmed with work and a sick grandfather. As soon as I get some REAL free time I will get going. I hope to have it going no later than this Monday.

Thanks again!

Back on topic-Let us know how this pans out!

Have you tried contacting them? Funny thing is I applied there for a sales job... it's in my back yard (okay literally a mile down the road at best).
