Arrow XD locked up, won't budge.

Here is something posted on another board. http://californiaccw.org/posts/list/1901.page

Quote:
I was with a department most of the day training they had a XD for testing and evaluation. The had already figure out you need to have the grip safety depresed to rack the slide to the rear.

They also figured out how to lock the gun up so it won't fire and can't be racked. All you need to do is load the gun and rack it forward with the grip safety about half way depressed. The gun will load the round, and not fire. You also can not rack it to the rear. The "loaded" gun had to be sent back to the factory so the take down lever could be drilled out.

They then got another one. I asked if I could do it. The Chief said yes because they were ready to ship it back. It took me three times to do it just right. I locked that gun up good! I banged on the slide with a hammer and everything. No luck, it's now boxed with a note AGAIN!

When you load the XD make sure the grip safety is FULLY ENGAGED!

If you don't, shipped it loaded back to the factory. It happens on all calibers, on all models. I called the LEO rep, they are aware of the problem with no fix. They will be adding to the instruction book that the grip safety must be engaged FULLY when loading the gun.
I can't believe this hasn't happened before, as the design didn't just come out yesterday. I thought I'd bring it up here to get some feedback on it. How common is this problem and what do you think the problem is?

Sounds to me if they were intentionally f-ing with the gun to give glock a better name! I would dare to say if you screwed with a glock for long enough you could probably figure out a way to jam it up!

You wouldn't have to screw with it too long

I just tried to duplicate this with both of my XD's and neither of them jammed or locked w/ AZoom Snap Caps. I pressed the grip safety just enough to let the slide cycle it didn't lock and I could still fire. I tried it depressed 1/2 way and it didn't lock. I tried it several times with my Service 357 and it never "locked" and each time I pulled the trigger the action worked. I've done a ton of dry fire drills with my XD's and snap caps. I'm suprised nobody on the forum has seen this before.

Just like PEBKAC, OIAFI.....

I know the author of the post. He is a personal friend of mine and is a reputable police trainer. He doesn't hide his identity so he wouldn't post a manufactured story as it would hurt his reputation and livelihood. He said it wasn't necessarily easy to do, and that he couldn't do it the first time. What's most concerning is that the PD "discovered" it, told him about it, and he was eventually able to duplicate it.

You sound insecure. This is not about trying to make Glocks look better. Glocks have nothing to do with the process as the department in question currently issues Sigs and HKs. We're not talking about someone who brought home a new toy and handles it with kid gloves. This is a police department and it's called Testing and Evaluation.

I was mearly making a observation of the information presented and not a character judgement of the author or the source! I just find it funny them slipping a glock refrence in! Seems to me that two or three of us heve attemted this with our own XD's and while we are not LEO or PST, we are all having problems inderstanding this report!

quicksilver, I did not mean to imply that you were questioning the validity of the report. I was just throwing that in so that everyone knew that this is not an anonymous person trying to mess with people. He's actually not much of a fan of Glocks.

For the record, I'm not trying to mess with anyone either. I think I have a good reputation at TFL, THR, hkpro, etc. and I am a moderator on the forum where this was originally posted. That's why I bringing it to everyone's attention here. If you follow the link in my first post, someone who is apparently a gunsmith calls him out, and the OP then provides a little more detail. Maybe that would be helpful, I don't know.
