Question What kind of case do you use for your XD?

Do you use the stock one?, I am looking into buying one of those nylon cases with pockets for the magazines, what do you think about those?

Thanks,

If I were you I would look into a air tight metal case with a rubber seal! XD's have been nkown to attract rust and a nylon case will just let moisture in! You can even pick one u pwhere you can customize the layout!

Good Luck

I currently use a ADG case but all my gear has outgrown it so I'm eyeballing a Pelican 1520. I missed out on a sweet deal on Ebay recently for a $250 Pelican set up for $102.50. I had an appointment that day so I wasn't around to watch the bidding, the person I had watching it for me mis-understood my instructions and didn't go above $100.

Oil your slide, and toss it in the bag. I keep my XD40 Tactical in a Dillon case that comes with their range bags, and have never had a problem. They also sell one that has the mag pouches one the outside. I have one, but it is kinda bulky with mag pouches full.
The rest of my XDs ride in Kydex holsters, or in pockets.

For occasional trips to the range, just about anything padded and secure will work. For long-term storage, conventional wisdom is to avoid cases with synthetic foam linings where the gun is otherwise unprotected. The foam doesn't "breathe", allowing humidity to linger, and can accelerate corrosion.

I use both the stock case and a nylon shooting bag equally, depending on the circumstances, but for most of the storage time, I wipe down all metal parts with a silicone-wipe and put it on a piece of parchment (or wax) paper, with a folded towel underneath for cushion. It seems happy enough, and no rust.

Good point, but at the same time you will also seal any ambient humidity inside the case as well (kinda like a terrarium ). Make real sure to either toss in a desiccant pack and oil well if you are going to store this way. A cordura nylon case is just fine. Many on the market have silcone or other anti-corrosion treatments included. If not, a Bore-store or similar gunsock inside a regular case will keep rust away.

I use one of these.

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...0005617227353a

Main compartment big enough to carry my XD45 Tac, pocket on one side with four magazine pouches, pocket on the other side big enough for two 50 round boxes of ammo.

I've got three of these bags, for my XD, Beretta 92, and Makarov.

Certainly not suitable for airline travel, but nice enough for going to the range.

Don't use a case - gun is in the sage when not in use. Trips to the range has it riding in my duty holster.

I guess I'm a cheapass, but for the range, I use a Sears Companion denim (?) tool bag. It has 8 pockets on the outside for mags, plus 4 larger pockets inside. I put ammo boxes in the center, and my pistols in their holsters on the outside. Zip it up, and it's good to go. You also get 8 or 9 household tools for the $15. I may have to look into an actual range bag sooner or later.
