CCW questions...
I know there was a thread on where you would not carry, but it brought up some more questions for me.
Do you guys actually carry at work? Does your work allow this or do you just do it regardless of the rules? Do you have lock boxes in your vehicles bolted to the floor for situations where you may go out for the day and end up at a place where you cannot carry? Here is why I ask. I take my daughter to school in the morning in the car and then take my son across town to my mom's. I do not live in the best neighborhood as I am still in college after exitig the Corps. We had a murder across the street about 3 months ago, literally in the house directly across a normal neighborhood street from me. There was a stabbing at the house next to it 1 week later, unrelated. Anyway, CC wouldn't exactly be bad thing for me, ya know what I mean? So, back to my routine, when I drop my son, I leave the car and take my motorcycle to work. I keep it at my mom's house for this exact reason. The college I attend and work at has rules against carrying ANY weapon on campus (including my S&W folders

I live in Texas,
My work does not allow weapons (per the handbook) but does not have any sort of sign up to dis-allow the general public from carrying, especially the 30.06 which is required, by law, in Texas. The wording of the handbook is not compliant (to 30.06 wording), so the in the absolute worst case I would simply be fired for a violation of company policy. I can not be charged with criminal trespass under Texas law. My workplace is retail, and my job is in the office upstairs and away from the public view and I carry but not on my body at work. It is in a briefcase to and from the vehicle and actually locked in a small safe at work. In the worst case, I will be able to defend against the upset, raging maniac who tries to invade our workplace. I'll worry about being fired or promoted later after we sweep up the casings. In the best case, no one will ever find out that my XD is even close by. Russ

When I'm at my day job, I leave it in my truck. When I'm doing the Sheriff thing, I'm pretty much required to carry it. Most all the management at my day job carry firearms with them. They're VERY gun tolerant, but nobody can carry on them, just keep it in the truck.

I carry a KelTec P3AT or a Kahr PM9.
Does that answer when/where I carry it?

Just to throw a late ..02 in, I carry to work, lock it up in my car and rearm when I leave work.
Violating our company policy is grounds for immediate dismissal and while nobody has made that faux pas as of yet I have been in on managerial discussions and the offender would be terminated on the spot. No questions asked, no appeal.

My work does not allow any employee to 'carry any weapons on or about their person' -- I will not divulge any information regarding my following of company protocol at any or all times.
That being said, it is my belief that if a person or persons makes a rule or a law that says you are not allowed to protect yourself, then that person or persons should also make sure that you are protected at all times.
