First FTE....found out why!

After having my first FTE after a little over 2000 rounds, I figured out why. I had major buildup in the little groove of the extractor! I had to take a needle to scrape it all out of there, it was caked. I never thought about cleaning inside that little groove. Good thing I did! Now she is flawless again! I wonder how many other FTE's are caused by this?

I know this may be a dumb question, but what does FTE mean?

Failure to Extract in this instance. Could also mean Failure to Eject, but you have to read it in context with the rest of the statement to know which one to apply.

may as well clarify: FTF can be Failure to Feed (in this case) or sometimes Failure to Fire (which is usually an ammo problem, not the striker/firing pin...but not always)

Dental picks work well to clean the extractor hook.
