Davidson's - How new are the XD-9s being shipped?
Hey folks,
New to the forum, been reading a bunch and learning a lot. Went out to the range and shot a HS2000 9mm with about 30k rounds through it. Compared it to a 92FS and a Sig 226 and I shot much better with the HS200. Now I'm looking to purchase the XD. I want to buy locally, but the only ones that the shops have are April 06 models. I understand that the May 06 and newer models have the improved black finish. My question is: anyone know what MONTH XD-9 Davidson's is currently shipping? (as of October 5, 2006) Thanks in advance for your help. Mr. Wolf |

Welcome to the forum. Davidson's turn them out to the dealers as fast as they receive them from SA. I doubt Davidson's stock level is much more than a month. The XDs packaages with 10rd mags may not turn as fast as the unrestricted mag capacity models.

That makes me wonder though. I just bought mine at Gander Mtn on 9/15/06 and it was an April model. They had JUST gotten it in the shipment.

Finish
I think the Melonite has a bit of shine or richness to it. For a lack of better words or description. Just picked up a XD40SC, and noticed the finish vs other older guns I have seen.
I know an older gun will look older but still....that is .01 worth.

This is real easy guys. If it scratches easily it is the old model. If you cant scratch it easily its a new model. They are very easy to tell the differance just by appearance.
