32 rnd mag feed issues?

Hey guys a buddy of mine hooked me up with a 32 rnd mag for my xd9. I took it out to the range, and after 6 or so rounds I got the first ever feed issue on my xd (5000+rnds, 1000 through barrel). I know for a fact it was the mag and not the gun, I didnt use the 32 rnd for the rest of the day, and 0 feed problems. Does anyone have any suggestions? My best guess, is that the spring tension in the mag is too low, because the rounds still in the mag looked like they had rotated to face upwards. Or atleast 2 of them had. Anyhow, I guess what I'm aiming at: Is stretching the spring bad?
cheers,
andy

A new barrel perhaps.

You might as well give it a shot by stretching the spring. It's obviously not working correctly as is, so you might as well. I wouldn't get crazy with it by any means, just make a minor adjustment. If that isn't enough then stretch some more. It's a lot easier to stretch it out then bend it back to it's original shape.

I blame the magazine. To check, see if your factory mags all still work without failures. 20+ capacity mags usually suck if they're not factory mags. Beretta makes some 20rnd factory mags that work flawlessly (not for the xd, obviously) but most aftermarket companies, "MaG-pro, eagle, etc" suck.

Yes, 1000 through the barrel because its new (FireDragon)
Cool thanks guys, I'd love to tell ya the manufacturer of the mag, but it doesnt say anywhere on it. Also why I think I got it for free (still stoaked though) I'll take it out to the range and make small adjustments to the tension until it feels like its working. Thanks again guys.

I bought a cheapy 30 round magazine for my Beretta CX4 from Cabellas. It was made by National and I don't think it had any markings on the mag either. The spring didn't have enough tension, so it also had FTE issues everytime I used it, which was like twice I think. Eventually the follower got jammed up in the middle of the mag, rendering it useless. Even though I could probably get the follower loose and fix it, I'm not going to bother.

However I did just pick up a pro-mag 30 rounder for that gun. I know most people hate pro-mag, but a friend of mine had success with it on the same gun, so I gave it a try. For $20 I figured it wouldn't be a bad thing to try. I've used it once, and it was flawless. First third-party mag to work in that gun. The other 15 round magazines from other manufacturers had a tendency to drop out of the gun.

My gut tells me that trying to stretch out that spring isn't going to do you any good. It's a real long spring as it is, and probably weak. If it looks like the one I had, stretching it is just going to make it hard to fit in the magazine and it'll jam up on itself.
