Where to find formal training...

Well, I'm a pretty new shooter my, considering I've only had my XD for a few months since my parents bought it for my 18th birthday, and I was wondering if anyone could point me in a direction to find training. Apparently my local shooting range no longer does classes anymore

I think so far I have been doing pretty decent, but obviously theres room for improvement. If it helps, I'm in Northern Utah. In the Provo area, but spend a lot of time up near Salt Lake.

Also, I've been thinking about getting myself another gun, since I'm out of highschool and I'm putting money away for college, but want to have a little bit of fun first I've been looking at those Kimber 1911's and the XD45 Tactical. They both look so good...Maybe I'll just get both

There are places like Tactical Reponse, Thunder Ranch, and so on. I got formal training from a guy local to me. I found it best since I got more 1 on 1 correction. Just be sure if you work locally that you get someone who knows what they are doing. Some places may not be too keen on having someone under 21 training with them though.

Front Sight is down in Las Vegas.
You can buy a certificate on Ebay that lets you take the 4 day pistol class for about $100. Or two people can take the two day.

The training is Excellent. Don't be put off by the low price. They do that to get people to take a first class, so they will come back and take more at the regular price.

When I was a Boy Scout about 6 years ago Front Sight put on a 1 day defensive pistol course/submachinegun shoot for the BSA troops in the Las Vegas area. It was spectacular and was one of the driving forces that got me interested in shooting.

Impact guns would be where I would start if you are looking for some local training.
