Exactly! About the only thing you can't do is extend the magazine capacity without getting a new tube AND new barrel.

also check out www.vangcomp.com

I JUST got my Mossberg 500 back. I'll take pix and post sometime. Unbelievable, its like a friggin new gun:
Full Vang Comp + LPA sights
Knoxx Spec Ops Stock + Powerpak

Now shoots with recoil comparable to a 20g, with much tighter groups at both 10 and 25 yds.

The knoxx sidewinder kit lets you use detachable mags in 10 or 6 round. I don't think they make it anymore, but you can still find them at gun shows and ebay/gunbroker. All with out buying a new barrel, but it costs 300 bucks! If you had the money it would be freakin awesome to buy several mags with it! I just bought an ati t6 6 position stock for my 500. I will also be getting a pistol grip fore end and some ghost rig sights. You can also buy magazine tube extensions along with a new spring to get a few more rounds. I bought the persuader with 20" barrel 7+1. Great gun.

Because of the fact that the barrel screws into the end of the magazine tube, you can't just throw an 8 round tube on a receiver and be good to go. You'd also have to buy a new barrel to screw into that extended magazine tube, as the contact point is now closer to the muzzle. That's what I was getting at.

When the Sidewinder system came out, I thought it was a great idea. I eventually decided that if I was going to spend $550 on a higher capacity shotgun, I'd rather go with a semi-auto. You can't beat the reload times though...
