pocket carry and the sc???
i want to carry my service, but i just can't see it being comfortable IWB. i have a don hume 715(??? the clip on, no cant style), and i don't like it. it might be ok with a forward cant, but even when i (temporarily) cant it, i can't seem to find a good place that doesn't allow the gun to show or print in some way.
now, i guess i should say that maybe i don't wear my pants as high as i should. i'm 26, and still dressing with what i would call a "functional" sag of the pants...i can still run and kick and stuff, but my beltline is lower than most of the older folks...i'm a skateboarder and snowboarder and i dress accordingly. so changing my style of dress just to carry concealed is, IMHO, stupid. i've considered putting some money down on a crossbreed holster but, again, my pants sag. so i'm wondering...does anyone carry the sc in their pocket? or a glock subby (not that i would, but...)? what about some other pistols...wheel or auto? or does anyone carry IWB that might have a similar style of dress as myself?

I was a shop-sponsored amatuer skateboarder back in 94-96. The loose fit clothing really helps a lot with CCW. Luckily, this mode of dress has become common and acceptable for even the older folks.
I use the Glock 26 in the pocket almost everyday. I went with the Glock b/c the grip was shorter, making it failry easy to hide in big pockets. The XDsc was just too long in the grip for me to be able to even fit it into my already huge pockets. I just don't seee how it can be done. When I'm clothes shopping, I am always shoving my hand in the pockets to see if it can accomodate my G26. If not, the pants/shorts usually stay on the rack. No matter what you decide on for pocket carry, always use a pocket holster. You want to keep the gun from shifting into different positions and you also make to keep that trigger covered up. I use the size 4 Uncle Mikes pocket holster with my G26. It's thin, stays in my pocket while drawing, and really cheap, even if I have to replace them every year. Good luck, B9 |

what your going to come across is that CCW is a lifestyle change. think about you firearm when you buy clothes when you put them on etc. Carrying while snowboarding is a non issue. lots of places to put it (snowboarder here) however the skating does present an issue... not sure about active wear holsters but you should look for something that has it;s own band that wraps around you thus no need for belt and clip. also look into the clipdraw

i destroyed my ankle, so i can't skate anymore and i probably can't ride anymore. but i like the style...my boys need room to breath. i won't be "active" when carrying the gun. i just don't want to start dressing like poindexter just to carry. my pockets are already big, so i figured i'd think about putting a gun in one instead of the so-far-uncomfortable IWB carry. anyone else?
boricua...do you carry that glock with one in the pipe?

Some people aren't comfortable with certain gun designs and modes of carry. When I first got into 1911s, I was weary of Cocked and Locked carry. I wore the gun around my apartment for a week Cocked and Locked, and the hammer never once dropped. That cured my fears. It's the same with the Glock. If the trigger isn't pulled, the striker will not fall. If the trigger is always covered by a holster, the trigger will never be pulled unintentionally (aside from those recalled strap holsters that allowed the strap to get in the trigger guard and fire the weapon if the gun was holstered carelessly I've gone back and forth with a few pocket guns. For now, I just don't trust anything as much as the G26. Other guns may work, but the recoil, shootability, and reliability balance just isn't the same. It's too bad the Kahr PM9 has had so many growing pains. I really want to love it, but the bad reports and price tag make me stick with the little 26. Same for the Rorhbaugh. I considered a Kahr MK9, but it weighs more than my trusty 26. Decisions, decisions... |

I pocket carry a Kahr MK9 quite a bit of the time, usually in cargo type shorts with a Hume pocket holster. It is very reliable. It is a little heavy and I have thought about getting a PM9 but after seeing and hearing of all the problems with them, I decided to stick with MK9 and just put up with weight.

I pocket carry a Ruger SP101. If you have deep pockets, it hides easily. I mainly carry this way in the summer when I am wearing shorts. You should also consider ankle carry with the SC.
