Adjustable sight for Tactical XD-40

Just ordered a PSI adjustable rear sight for my Tactical XD-40. It's a two dot design, and it uses the existing front sight. Pachmyer use to sell this line of sights, and I purchased one for a S&W 422. It was low profile, easy to manipulate, and very well made. The reason I want an adjustable sight is because I reload for my XD40, I have a load that groups well, but it's shooting at POA. I prefer a 6'oclock hold and I want to be able to move my shot group without having to bang on my sights or change ammo. Has anyone used one of these? I welcome any feedback you might have on this accessory.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the stock front sight will be tall enough to work with the TPU rear sight. Let us know what you find out.

I do know they offer a set for the SIG/XD, however, for the money, I think you would be better served with Dawson sights, IMHO.

Thanks Old School,
You're right, Dawson sights would be another way to go, but the good thing about the PSI sight is that it uses the existing dovetail in the slide. Do Dawson sights mount the same way, or do they have to be custom fitted ? By the way according to the product description, it says that it does utilize the stock front sight. I let you know as soon as I mount and test fire with it. Thanks again

The Dawson sights for the XD use the existing dovetail. I believe that Dawson also make sights that need to be milled, like Bomars.

If you can use the TPU with the stock front, that would be great. Let us know!

Although it's not the best angle to determine if that's true, from what I can tell, it does appear to have a lower profile than the Dawsons. And from what the website is claiming, it should work.

The TPU comes in both dot and outline...

FEATURES:
  • Works with the factory front sight.
  • Sight Height: .230

Not sure what the sight height is on the Dawsons but I just put these on my gun recently.

not sure which i like better. the TPU's seems like it has a lot of it's components exposed while the dawsons have them tucked in nicely. The TPU has soft edgues which i like better than the sharp edges of the dawson. The TPU for a dot system is pretty well priced. My no dot, plain black, system cost my $79. But i can't complain about my setup. I really like it.

Sorry, I'll post a better pic for you.

All the sights Dawson list for the XD fit without cutting the slide. You could mount the other non-XD sights if you want to cut down the slide.

Thanks for the fotos thomye, it's a great to be able to compare the TPU to the Dawson rear sight. Your setup looks awesome! Your front sight looks like a HiViz, is the rear one the same? By the way, do you have a problem snagging that front sight on your holster?
