+P Ammo safe for XD's?

Ok first I did try using the search on this question but it was coming up with some error.

Is +P or +P+ ammo safe to shoot in XD's? I was curious. I have a NIB XD 9mm Tactical and was wondering if I could use my +P ammo I have on hand for another gun in it.
Thanks!

+P ammo is safe to shoot in your xd, however, it will increase wear. +P+ is not a sammi regulated pressure label, so it is tough to say what the pressure actually is.

good luck

Wink My take on +P Ammo.

It's a carry defence type Ammo. Not and everyday range Ammo. If you shoot the +P you quickly understand it's HOT!!! stuff also costly. Like others have posted it will cause more stress and wear on any handgun if used a lot.

I use corbon +P for carry and ran over a hundred rounds of it through to make sure it functioned well and to know what to expect from it if I need to use it in stress situation... no worries.. go ahead and shoot. as for +P+, who needs that? +P is good enough.

This is an email I got from SA on 9-5-06.

All XD’s are capable of supporting the use of +P and +P+ ammunition. It is not recommended that you use this ammo for everyday shooting since it is very hard on the pistol. It is recommended that you do fire it extensively before relying on it as a defense round. The higher pressure ammo can change the timing of the pistol, which can cause malfunctions. You should always thoroughly test any new ammo being used.
