What ammo do you carry in your XD.40 sub-compact?

I recently purchased an XD .40 sub-compact for semi-deep carry.

However, muzzle flip is an issue, at least with Winchester 40 S&W 180 gr. JHP rounds.

I am new to the 40 caliber, and I am looking for recommendations for a somewhat lighter load.

I will probably try Federal 135 gr. PD Hydra Shok for my carry ammo. Then, I would like to find some cheaper ammo for the range that feels and shoots like my choice for carry ammo.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm a fan of Hornady 155 grain xtp hollow points. I had some feed issues with another compact 40 caliber (CZ) using Federal Hydrashok but found that the Hornady points are closed a little tighter and have fed fine in the Sub compacts.

I carry SPEER Gold Dots in my XD40 SC and they shoot great. I have put about 150 rounds through it without any misfires or misfeeds. I am very happy with the gold dots. Plus the expansion of the round beats the Hornady TAP ammo

Right now I have 2 mags loaded with speer gold dot and one with federal hydra-shock. Both feed fine in it.

edit: neither are light loads. Both are noticibly louder and have more recoil than WWB ammo.

I run the 165 grain Hydrashocks right now in the sub-compact. They're about 6 months old and will probably get shot out at the next range day. I have 3 mags of 155 grain TAP's for my service and will probably get some for the SC. Personally I think the lighter grain bullets might have better performance out of the short barrel of the SC and my ported service.

180 golden sabers.

I generally prefer 180's to the lighter rounds which feel a little "snappy" to me.
