xd tactile accuracy?
What accuracy should I expect from my new xd 9?
When guy compare groups is there a standard distance. Like rifles 1" we know means 100 yards. What is the best way shoot off sand bags? A few under the front and 1 under the grip? thanks... |

Ok, here's my non-scientific answer to your question. The XD is a "combat pistol" not a "target pistol" -- it is designed for function and reliability, not target grade accuracy. With this being said, it's probably still more accurate than you are.
As far as standards for testing accuracy on pistols, most of the handgun magazines I read do testing at 25 yards. Not sure on a "proper" sandbag setup. |

Maybe next time I get a chance I will bench my 9MM. It would be interesting to see what results I could get. Thanks for the info on the distance.
When I sighted in my Taurus revolver I put one under the grip and a couple under the barrel. My XD is my "fun" gun.

when i shoot my kimber and my xd or glock back to back there is a big difference in the grouping. now, i dont shoot terribly with my xd, but i can punch the little red hole out with my kimber. naturally, the kimber (or any 1911 for that matter) is more prone to malfunctions, its just the nature of the beast. tho both of my 1911's have been completely reliable with any ammo i use, it isnt uncommon to see problems with them. my xd has never had an issue that wasnt my fault tho.

Yes the XD is definitely a "combat" accuracy gun. Its sad to say, but I am more of an accurate shooter than my XD is. I know this because with my CZ P-01 which is very close in dimensions and size, I can make a nice ragged hole. With my XD-9? Not really.
My XD-9's slide wobbles left and right quite a bit. Lately its been bothering me as the accuracy on my XD-9, no matter how I shoot it, even sand bagged, is not that great. For all other purposes I think the XD-9 is a great gun. I just wish it were more accurate. At least my XD-9 holds 16+1, I should be able to hit something......eventually. |

My XD9tac is wonderful! I have shot more one hole groups with it than I have my P226. It is my primary carry gun and my competition pistol. It has been very accurate. I have benched it for 25 yard shots and it has made some really kick ass groups. I have seen some 3 shot and 4 shot groups of 2 inches with it, and I have hit head shots on IDPA targets with it so I know it can do much better than I can shoot. you will have no problem getting it to shoot more than "combat" groups for you. Handload ammo for it and it will give you some amazing accuracy.

I don't have a problem with hitting mini poppers at 50 yards with my 9mm 4" service models.
I've shot more than a few XD's and most of all them are quite accurate for a stock gun. Getting all 6 shots in the upper A zone is pretty common accuracy offhand at 12-15 yards. |

I'm not convinced that my XD9 Tactical will be my competition gun yet. Maybe if I shoot better a service model will work just as well?
