companion carbine

I have a new XD-45 on layaway. All my other auto pistols are 1911's but I like springfield and liked the XD so I thought I'd try it for a high capacity. I'm really looking forward to getting it so I can shoot it.

I've wanted a companion carbine in .45 for awhile, something like the beretta storm in .45ACP but ideally with a folding stock and high capacity magazines that could also use a pistol magazine. The storm is nice but the .45 version only has 8 in the magazine.

Any chance springfield and HS could come out with a 16" carbine in .45 ACP that used xd magazines as well as higher capacity double stacks, a 16 in barrell and a folding stock? There is a real market for .45 semi auto carbines thats not being filled.

I don't know if it's still made but Marlin used to make the Camp Carbine in .45.

Interesting article about the Marlin:

http://www.notpurfect.com/main/campgun.htm

To use .45ACP in a longer barrel you would need either a hotter charge or a slower burning powder. This is prolly why we don't see a whole lot of .45 carbines. That being said:

That sucker looks like pure business!

For using the .45, I still want a good old full-auto Thompson smg. I'm a bit nostalgic for that era of weaponry to begin with, and that big drum magazine and the simplicity of its design just make me all googly inside for some reason.

The HK USC carbine has a street price of almost $1,400, a ten round mag and no folding stock.

The Marlin Camp Carbine is no longer made and hard to find new.

The tommy gun would be great if I could have a full auto, but its awful big and heavy for a semi auto.

UZI made a .45 version but if you can find one it goes for around $1,500 and has a mag capacity 16.

Come on, a small light compact carbine in .45 ACP with decent magazine capacity, the ability to use double stack pistol mags and at a decent price. Why should that be so hard to find? There are plenty of options in 9 mm.
