I've been doing this for years too but have tried longer distances for "trick shooting". I just feel real bad when I can't accomplish what I want at longer distances. 7(or 5) yards, 15, and 25. That seems the most realistic measure for most people.

IM pretty new to shooting and havent really gone past 10 yards yet. Usually at that distance i can get most shots in or close to the bulls eye. Next time i shoot i want to try and move back a little.

My XD9 Tactical is sighted in at 15 yards (Bo-Mar adjustable sight on the gun), but I regularly push the target out to 25 yds to practice precision shooting. I only bring the target in closer when I am practicing one-handed shots.

I usually shoot around 7 yards then move it back to 12-15 yards. Making sure the groups are very tight before I go back further. With my XD9 SC I usually shoot 3-4 inch groups, and about half that with my CZ 75.

Most of the time I shoot 5, 10 and 15 yards and occasionally I setup a 25 yarder.

I've only owned my xd45 tactical for about two months now and have about 600 rounds through it. First pistol I've ever owned and its been an awesome firearm to shoot. The farthest distance that I've shot so far has been at about 25 yards, with all my shots landing on a silloette target. Not nearly as good as I would like. I'm sure part of this inaccuracy comes from my shooting form. Shooting a pistol is all together a different animal than a rifle. At 15 yards I can hold a 3-4 inch group. Ok accuracy, but I would like to be at least twice as accurate. Are these expectations too high for a pistol?

Overall, I have enjoyed this firearm and love getting some range time in when I get the chance.
