From 3 feet to 100 yards. Mostly between 7 and 25 yards, because that's where most of the targets are in USPSA competitions.

There was a fun article in Handguns where the author shot a Glock 23, a Walther P99--both in .40 S&W--and a Les Baer Prowler in .45 ACP out to 200 yards (!). I was impressed. Of course, the catch is you generally need some practice shots and a right good spotter.

Me, I shoot at 7, 10 and 15 yds., and am just about fixin to throw in a 25 yd. line, too. My goal is to someday be a respectable shot up to 50 yds. Gotta get a trigger job, though.

I don't have a range I go to when I am shooting my personal weapons. I go out onto the desert and usually shoot from 3 to 25 yards (paces). My most common targets are clay pigeons, eggs and CD's (I pick up my trash). I shoot the clay pigeons out to 25-30 paces and eggs from 7-15 paces. Aim small, hit small. Of course, I don't hit every time, but I have noticed I have improved all around lately, and I am usually an inch or two off. Even with the subcompact I can score a clay at 25' in 3-4 shots.

By the way, if you are unable to afford, or don't like toting your own steel targets around (especially torso size ones), a defunct acoustic guitar works great as a stand in. They are slightly smaller (which isn't a bad thing) and shorter (you could build a stand to raise it up if you really needed to), but their structure is around the sides, so you can shoot them forever, or at least until you use a shotgun. You can even toss a shirt over it and practice firing at a clothed target.

At the indoor range I go to I generally shoot in the 5-10 yard range. I work on my trigger control and consistancy. When I shoot outdoors, I may try longer shots at about 25 yards or sometimes more just for the hell of it. I like to empty a mag fast and see how accurate I can be. Usually not so good but it's alot of fun.

Anywhere between 1 yard and 50 yards. Mostly 50 because that is where the steel spinners are at my range.

Not Arizona, but I used to live there. I'm actually from a semi-arid desert. The nearest indoor range is two and a half hours away, and my very busy work schedule ( I'm averaging 120 hours every two weeks ) makes membership in the local gun clubs difficult, because they want you to participate a lot more than my schedule allows.
