New XD page on Wikipedia
Hey guys,
I did some revamping, updating, and re-formating of the XD page on Wikipedia the other day. The one that was in place before was pretty good, but I felt like it'd be helpful to add some history, background, and pros and cons of the XD series. I'm not an XD expert by any stretch, but I did a ton of research and reading before writing the article, so I think most of it is reasonably accurate. If you guys wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate if you'd look over the new page and let me know what you think. I'm especially interested in hearing about anything I got wrong, or anything you feel should be added. If you're comfortable editing Wiki pages then please feel free to go ahead with your changes - if you're not, just post the info in this thread and I'll do my best to incorporate it into the page. Also, if you have any good XD-related links that I missed, I'd be happy to add those. Keep in mind that Wikipedia isn't intended to be a marketing page for SA, it isn't a Glock vs. XD page (although some comparisons are unavoidable) and it isn't the one-stop source for XD info. It's supposed to be a basic rundown of the gun and its features, with good linkage to let people who are interested do more research on their own. Thanks for the help. I'll look forward to hearing what you guys think.

Nice article; however I do have one suggestion. While I would guess most people who run across this article will be familiar with gun terms, I think the use of the word "flip" when describing the purpose of the ported barrel might better be reworded for those with less knowledge of shooting lingo. Maybe something related to "muzzle climb", but even that might still be considered a shooting term by some.
Other than that one very minor "issue", I think it's a very professional job about my favorite handgun.

Nicely done, but I found two small errors (which I'll leave to you to fix yourself):
1. The capacity of the 9mm (at least mine) is 16+1, not 15+1. Also, you might want to explain that "+1" bit, for readers who aren't gunners. 2. You say: "...Fortunately, current versions of the XD are being manufactured with a treatment called Melonite....". Note that this is currently true only for the .45. I love wikipedia. When it first started, I thought "that'll never work...there are too many flakes out there." But every time I read an article there on a topic I happen to know a lot about, I'm impressed. Thanks for your effort.

You know, the 'flip' thing bothered me too. I don't much like the term, and I don't like the implication that the XD is 'flippy' in the first place. I just couldn't come up with a better explanation for a ported model. Maybe I should just end the sentence after the model name and leave it at that.
After all, people who are interested in ported guns will probably know what it's for. Thanks for the suggestions/corrections so far. I'll work on incorporating them tonight.

Actually, I came across your Wikipedia page last night while researching some info on the HS2000. Well done! I found it very informative. But the pic of the XD-45 is missing a round (13+1!

I think you did an excellent job - very well written.
I hear the Encyclopeadia Britannica is looking for a few, good men ...

Can you hotlink the "1911-style grip safety"?
You have a link to "1991", "1995" and "1999". I'm not sure that helps any. You might mention having double-stacked magazines in contrast to the 1911's single-stacked. Quote:
Nice job! I'm glad someone started it and that XDTalk.com is actively and collectively working on it.
