This is going to be very subjective to your hand size... body dimensions...etc. Try them both on and see which YOU like best.

Dimensions Rounded Up:
4.5" from the top of the slide to the bottom of mag baseplate

Not quite 6" in length

Definitely less than 1" in width

Enjoy

I own both the service and the sub and in my opinion I like the service WAY more. I'm like you and I don't like having my little finger hanging off of the bottom. Try both, but I think the service is the way to go.

I put Pierce extensions on my SC mags. I could shoot OK without them, but I like the extra control and I definitely shoot better with them. The extension is only on the front of the grip where the little finger grips. If you carry behind the hip, butt forward (FBI tilt), then the part of the butt that pokes out against your cover garment is the back corner, which is not extended. Sort of like an Ed Brown Bobtail.

No problem..... Can you answer the question now:
"Is there really only 3/4" difference between the Service grip and SC grip or is that the difference between Service and SC w/extensions?"

Also for comparisons sake here's the SC weights.

Well I just measured my Service grip height and it was 5 1/4 (making it 3/4 bigger.

My G36 grip height is 4 1/2 and my Kahr K40 height is 4 5/8 so they are all very similiar in size. The Glock slide seems to be the widest (just barely).

Well I think I will wait on the XD45 SC, buy it (can never have enough guns) and then do a side by side comparison.

Thanks

I carry an SC, and I think it's main strong point is weight. Every little bit makes a huge difference when you carry all day long. The SC is insignificantly less accurate than the Service mechanically. Control wise, the Service is easier to shoot accurately. However, with proper and frequent practice, this becomes more of a non-issue.

So I'd just like to throw my vote in for the SC.

I like the SC because my hands feel like they are surrounding the gun!
I feel like I have a rock solid grip on the thing!

I carry both depending on my mood, what I'm wearing, what the weather is like (which determines what I wear), and where I am going. When I go to places like Afghanistan, Iran, or Bagdad, I carry my rocket launcher.
