I had my Tactical stippling job done by Robar in Phoenix, they had an online special for $60.00 so I actually had both my XD's done at the same time.
While I was at Shot Show last weekend I meet with Irv from BarSto and took a look at the new stippling job he is now offering and in comparison I'd say his is better than Robar. It felt better and seemed to have a bit more grip than my Robar job. The photo that Slaytex provided a link for looks awfully familiar, does anyone know if that's a photo of Irv's XD-40?

The new Limited Edition XDs at the Shot were awesome in feel. it really should eb a standard option, I mean realistically from the factory it costs the same as the original grip. I imagine if SpringField put out the "custom" grip as a standard factory option and made the price comparable w/ the standard grip you would see a lot of people defecting to XDs.

stick on grips
i am always trying to do things my way, lol.
i have not seen the decal rubber grips so i don't know what the are like. i have found some peel and stick foam it is already shaped to fit my xd. just requires trimming . it feel really good, however i have not fired the gun with them on there . i plan to do that tonight . if it works as well as it feels it will be great. all i have found so far is gray in color, but does not look to bad and it is at walgreens for $6. i will let you know and try to get a pic.

I have seen both stock and stippled. Mine is stock right now but i prefer the stippled.
I WOULD like mine hand stippled 360 with a steel checkered front strap in the grip.... we will see.

I just emailed bowie the other day. He says that there is negligible difference between a stipple 360 and the embedded checkered front strap in terms of actual grip. The difference is more in the look and feel of the gun.
Im starting to get feedback on my mod project from gun makers, he was kind enoughy to give me his opinion on some of the modifications that I was looking for and I might be taming the project down a bit because he made some really good functional points.
