extracting problems

After 500 rounds, it finallly hiccuped. Wouldn't extract causing double feed/jam on slow fire every third round, rapid fire every sixth round, with stock 18 pound spring and 22 pound Don's guide rod and spring. If anyone has experienced this let me know what was done to fix it.

Miller, check the inside of the extractor claw to see if there is any scoring or lead buildup. It may just be some gunk that's keeping the rounds from sliding up under the claw correctly. Did you clean it good before you shot it the first time?

Is the extractor free of oil and debris?
The extractor can't do it's job if it can't grab the rim.
Kind of like you trying to pick up a ball bearing with oil on your fingers.
just on suggestion. Good luck

I was shooting WWB but that is all that I have ever put through my gun. I hope that I do not have to send my gun back to springfield, would getting a gunsmith to change the extractor do the job

It is obvious to anyone that understands gun design that the XD extractor is not such a good design.

An improved external extractor design would make the XD much closer to the perfect handgun.

Some people have 10s of thousands of rounds with 0 FTE! A poor extractor design? No gun is perfect. The XD is just the closest of the bunch.
